Format: Commander

Commander: Anhelo, the Painter

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Anhelo, the Painter is the card-advantage engine in a Grixis spellslinger deck built to chain copied instants and sorceries. The deck's primary plan is to accelerate into Anhelo, use his casualty trigger plus payoffs like Erebor Flamesmith and Fiery Inscription to deal exponential damage, and close through direct burn or copied X spells. Secondary paths include commander damage via copied combat tricks or turning spare attackers into threats, and a durdly token strategy leveraging Talrand, Judith, and Rakka Mar. Kess, Dissident Mage and Cormela provide graveyard recursion to extend spell chains. The deck is moderately commander-dependent; without Anhelo the plan relies on raw card draw and slower token generation.
