Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Whiplash, Vengeful Engineer as an aggressive Voltron commander that converts attached Equipment into symmetrical life drain. By deploying low-cost Equipment early, Whiplash turns every combat into a multi-opponent life swing that bypasses traditional single-target combat constraints. Robust mana acceleration—combining early rocks with mid-game Swamp doublers like Crypt Ghast and Nirkana Revenant—ensures the deck can easily pay steep equip costs. A layered protection package featuring Commander's Plate, Mithril Coat, and Champion's Helm keeps Whiplash safe from targeted removal, while auxiliary threats like Gwenom, Remorseless and Defiling Daemogoth provide strong backup pressure. The removal package is highly efficient, utilizing free interaction like Deadly Rollick alongside flexible sweepers like Toxic Deluge to keep opposing boards clear.
