Deck overview

This is a Grixis control-theft midrange deck helmed by Nicol Bolas, the Ravager. The plan is to ramp into Bolas and a suite of expensive value engines, strip opponents' hands and boards through discard and edicts, then convert that parity break into a win via Torment of Hailfire, mass reanimation (Rise of the Dark Realms, Portal to Phyrexia), or a Bolas planeswalker ultimate. A dense clone package (Spark Double, both Sakashimas, Clever Impersonator, Phyrexian Metamorph) copies the best permanent on the table-often your own transformed Bolas or a stolen bomb-while secondary Bolas planeswalkers and praetors (Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant) lock the late game. There are no infinite combo lines; the deck wins through attrition, theft, and oversized finishers. Nicol Bolas, the Ravager is a strong early disruptor and a command-zone card-advantage engine once transformed, but the 99 carries plenty of independent threats.
