Azula by Wicks

Format: Commander

Commander: Fire Lord Azula

Bracket: 3

DeckCheck Threat Index: 19

Deck overview

Fire Lord Azula is the deck's central engine. The plan is to deploy her, attack, use firebending mana, and cast instants or sorceries that she copies. Cards such as Guttersnipe, Archmage Emeritus, Veyran, Voice of Duality, and Storm-Kiln Artist can turn those copies into damage, cards, or Treasures. The deck also has a secondary high-end plan involving Breach the Multiverse, Etali, Primal Storm, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur, and The Rise of Sozin. Its main strengths are flexible spell access, respectable spot interaction, and explosive turns when several permanents survive. Its main weakness is that the explosive pieces are expensive and mostly singleton cards. The commander must survive to attack, while the deck has limited redundancy for haste, protection, and payoff access. It can generate strong midgame advantage, but it does not reliably convert that advantage into a complete table kill or a total lockout.
