Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck executes an asymmetric 'Owling Mine' strategy, combining symmetric draw effects with hand-size punishment artifacts. Commanded by Kami of the Crescent Moon and Misers' Cage, the deck floods all players with cards while breaking parity through pieces like Iron Maiden, Ebony Owl Netsuke, Viseling, and Scrawling Crawler. Because opponents hold overflowing hands, they suffer severe recurring damage during their upkeeps. To prevent opponents from freely weaponizing their extra cards, the deck deploys heavy asymmetric lock pieces such as Back to Basics and Winter Moon, which paralyze nonbasic land bases while leaving the deck's 30 basic Snow-Covered Islands unaffected. Meekstone and Propaganda protect life totals from creature combat. Interaction is anchored by premier countermagic like Fierce Guardianship and Mana Drain. If the attrition plan is stalled, the deck can pivot into a compact combo finish using Paradigm Shift alongside Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac.
