Deck overview

This deck is a focused monoblack Aristocrats strategy commanded by Ayara, First of Locthwain. The game plan establishes an efficient engine by pairing Ayara with low-cost recurring creatures and token generators such as Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Ophiomancer, and Reassembling Skeleton. Ayara converts these disposable bodies into steady card advantage while steadily draining the table each time a black creature enters. As the game develops, the deck leverages high black devotion and mana ramp to cast devastating mass-drain finishers. The primary win condition is Plague of Vermin, which allows the pilot to pay life to spawn dozens of Rat tokens simultaneously, triggering Ayara to drain each opponent for lethal damage on the spot. Backup lines utilize Bolas's Citadel, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and redundant drain permanents to grind out victories. While highly resilient against creature-based strategies, the deck remains vulnerable to stack interaction and fast noncreature combos.
