Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Gruul Dragon tribal midrange list built around the Background pairing of Ganax, Astral Hunter and Acolyte of Bahamut. The Background discounts the first Dragon you cast each turn by {2}, turning Ganax, Astral Hunter into a three-mana engine that mints a Treasure whenever any Dragon enters. Those Treasures, stacked with cost-reducers like Dragonlord's Servant, Dragonspeaker Shaman, and Herald's Horn, deploy a flying army ahead of curve. The deck wins through aerial combat, ETB burn from Terror of the Peaks and Dragon Tempest, an extra combat from Scourge of the Throne, and a one-sided Earthquake that sweeps grounded creatures while hitting every opponent. There are no infinite combos; Hellkite Tyrant's twenty-artifact clause and Dracogenesis are the only non-combat finishers. Both commanders speed the plan up, but the 99 is fully functional Dragon beatdown on its own.
