Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Grixis combat spellslinger deck commanded by Fire Lord Azula. The strategy revolves around deploying Azula, attacking to generate {R}{R} mana via Firebending 2, and casting instant-speed spells during combat to trigger her ability and copy them for free. By copying looting spells like Big Score and Demand Answers, the deck gains massive card advantage and Treasure generation without paying extra discard costs. Copied pump spells such as Bulk Up and Temur Battle Rage turn Azula into a lethal commander-damage threat, while pingers like Guttersnipe, Fiery Inscription, and Black Waltz No. 3 burn the rest of the table simultaneously. Supported by secondary theft and exile payoffs such as Prosper, Tome-Bound, Passionate Archaeologist, and Etali, Primal Storm, the deck maintains momentum even without its commander, though its low land count of 28 lands requires disciplined mulliganing to ensure early mana development.
