Deck overview

This is a general-power Izzet deck built around Yusri, Fortune's Flame. Its normal plan is to accelerate into Yusri, Fortune's Flame, give it haste with Lightning Greaves, and attack for coin flips that draw cards and sometimes allow free casting. Krark's Thumb improves the quality of coin flips, while Tavern Scoundrel turns wins into Treasures and Chance Encounter offers a delayed alternate win. The deck also has strong card selection, mana rocks, and a wide counterspell and removal suite. Its main weakness is that the coin engine does not produce a deterministic payoff. A successful attack can create a large hand, but the list does not reliably convert that hand into lethal damage or a lock. Niv-Mizzet, Parun provides a powerful secondary draw-and-damage engine, but it is expensive and requires additional setup. The deck is therefore strongest as a proactive value deck with reactive control, not as a consistent combo or cEDH finisher.
