Deck overview

This deck is a focused mono-black attrition/stax strategy helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright (and its back face Tergrid's Lantern). The primary game plan is to force opponents to sacrifice permanents and discard cards, then steal those resources via Tergrid's triggered ability, creating overwhelming card advantage. The deck runs a dense suite of forced-sacrifice and discard spells, along with reanimation to recur key pieces. Win conditions include massive drain effects (Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel), Kokusho, the Evening Star loops with Living Death, and incremental value from Tinybones, Trinket Thief and Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The commander is a powerful enabler, but the deck can execute its plan without her due to the deep redundancy of sacrifice/discard effects and the drain finishers.
