Deck overview

Built around The Thing as a counter-doubling combat engine, this is a five-color superfriends/counters deck. The commander asks for a noncreature spell each turn, then doubles counters on attack; the plan is to grow The Thing into a one-shot commander-damage threat while simultaneously pumping planeswalker loyalty. Secondary paths use planeswalker ultimates-especially Ral Zarek's extra turns and Chandra/Jaya emblems-and Commodore Guff's or Chandra, Legacy of Fire's burn to finish all opponents. No double-faced commander or hidden commander exists; Commodore Guff is an optional commander in the 99. The deck's most reliable clock is The Thing plus Ral Zarek, not a combo.
