Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is commanded by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel, serving as an engine-driven lifegain combo and control deck. The early game focuses on deploying low-cost lifegain permanents such as Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Lotho, Corrupt Shirriff alongside standard mana acceleration. Once the commander enters on Turn 5, every passive life gain event can be converted into card draw at an even life exchange, rapidly refilling your hand. The deck's primary victory route is assembling an infinite life-drain loop using Exquisite Blood or Bloodthirsty Conqueror paired with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, Enduring Tenacity, or Starscape Cleric. Independent backup lines include the Heliod, Sun-Crowned and Walking Ballista combo as well as storming through the library with Bolas's Citadel and Aetherflux Reservoir. Broad removal and tax pieces keep opposing boards manageable until the combo executes.
