Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Rakdos Midrange and Burn strategy centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug is a massive 8/7 Dragon with flying, haste, and indestructible that creates Treasure tokens equal to any noncombat damage dealt to it. The deck accelerates through early turns using efficient treasure producers like Kalain, Reclusive Painter, Captain Lannery Storm, and Prosper, Tome-Bound. Once Smaug enters on Turn 5, the deck utilizes high-damage noncombat spells like Blasphemous Act, Cut Propulsion, and Fire Covenant to blast Smaug, generating 13 to 16 Treasure tokens in a single burst. These tokens trigger burn engines like Mirkwood Bats, Reckless Fireweaver, and Ingenious Artillerist, while funneling massive mana into finishers such as Exsanguinate or Depthshaker Titan. Because Smaug is indestructible, symmetrical creature board wipes leave your commander unscathed while completely wiping opposing boards, allowing you to close games quickly through combat and direct burn.
