Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck harnesses Braids, Arisen Nightmare to generate substantial card advantage and early life attrition. The strategy revolves around deploying inexpensive recurring fodder such as Bitterblossom, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Bloodghast, and Reassembling Skeleton, which Braids sacrifices each end step to draw up to three cards per turn cycle. This rapid card flow fuels high-impact mono-black engines including Grave Pact, Tergrid, God of Fright, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, and Bolas's Citadel. Mana acceleration from Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx propels the deck toward explosive mid-game turns. The deck closes games by draining the entire table using Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, or a large Exsanguinate. While the deck excels at creature suppression and card velocity, it exhibits inherent vulnerabilities to noncreature artifacts, stack-based combo wins, and targeted graveyard exile.
