Deck overview

This Mardu deck utilizes Extus, Oriq Overlord primarily for its sorcery back face, Awaken the Blood Avatar. The game plan focuses on deploying efficient, low-mana token generators such as Bitterblossom, Charismatic Conqueror, and Anim Pakal during the opening turns. These expendable creatures reduce the casting cost of Awaken the Blood Avatar, allowing it to enter as early as Turn 3 or 4. Upon resolution, the sorcery forces every opponent to sacrifice a creature while creating a 3/6 Avatar with haste that deals 3 damage to each opponent when it attacks. Supported by damage multipliers like Purphoros, God of the Forge and Mayhem Devil, the deck rapidly depletes opposing life totals while continually clearing opposing boards through repeated Avatar casts. Premium interaction, free protection spells, and robust card draw engines like Skullclamp give the deck strong resilience and long-term sustainability across multiplayer tables.
