Deck overview

This deck is an aggressive Izzet Pirate tempo list led by partner commanders Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator and Breeches, Brazen Plunderer. The game plan deploys cheap, evasive Pirates during the opening turns to trigger Malcolm and Breeches consistently upon dealing combat damage. This generates rapid Treasure acceleration and steady card advantage by exiling spells from opponents' libraries or drawing cards through effects like Coastal Piracy. The deck converts this mana and resource advantage into decisive combat swings using powerful Pirate finishers like Coercive Recruiter, Gemcutter Buccaneer, and Fathom Fleet Swordjack, while holding up inexpensive countermagic to protect its board. It also features an incidental burn combo using Lightning-Rig Crew and Freed from the Real alongside Malcolm. While vulnerable to repeated creature board wipes and lacking direct tutors, the deck excels at overwhelming the table through tempo, mana velocity, and steady card flow.
