Deck overview

This Abzan deck focuses on Kathril, Aspect Warper as a lethal Voltron commander powered by a keyword-dense graveyard. In the early turns, the deck sets up mana fixing and uses targeted burial spells like Buried Alive and Entomb or incidental self-mill to seed creatures with diverse keyword abilities into the graveyard. When Kathril resolves, it distributes keyword counters—including flying, double strike, hexproof, indestructible, and trample—onto itself, entering as a massive lethal threat capable of eliminating opponents in single combat swings. The deck backs up this primary plan with a strong suite of instant-speed Abzan removal spells, counter preservation through The Ozolith and Resourceful Defense, and traditional reanimation spells like Reanimate and Unburial Rites. While highly resilient against targeted removal once resolved, the deck is vulnerable to early graveyard hate and must navigate table-wide exile sweepers to close out games across multiple combat steps.
