Deck overview

This mono-black deck is a thematic exhibition build centered entirely on the character Liliana Vess, combining Zombie tribal synergies with planeswalker-driven hand attrition. Led by Liliana, Heretical Healer, the deck sets up early board presence with low-cost Zombies and self-mill enablers before transforming its commander into a repeatable reanimation and discard engine on Turn 4. It systematically empties opponents' hands through symmetrical discard effects while breaking parity by casting spells from the graveyard and drawing cards off creature deaths. As the game progresses, it establishes a lethal combat clock around Turn 7 using anthems and token multipliers like Gisa, the Hellraiser and Liliana's Mastery, closing the game on Turn 10. While the deck possesses strong creature control and steady attrition engines, its lack of fast mana ramp, absence of artifact or enchantment removal, and vulnerability to graveyard hate keep it firmly in casual-to-mid power exhibition pods.
