Deck overview

This deck is a Golgari Aristocrats and Landfall midrange strategy commanded by Sméagol, Helpful Guide. The central game plan uses cheap sacrifice fodder and free sacrifice outlets to trigger creature deaths each turn. When a creature dies under your control, Sméagol triggers Ring temptation on your end step, stripping cards from opponents' libraries and placing their revealed lands onto your battlefield tapped. This consistent land theft creates an asymmetric mana advantage that fuels explosive Landfall payoffs such as Avenger of Zendikar, Rampaging Baloths, and Zendikar's Roil. As your mana base expands, the deck transitions into lethal combat waves or drains the table through Syr Konrad, the Grim, Bolas's Citadel, and large mana sinks like Torment of Hailfire. While resilient to attrition thanks to extensive graveyard recursion, the deck relies heavily on sorcery-speed interaction and requires proactive management against opposing sweepers and fast combo strategies.
