Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos "group slug" drain commander deck helmed by Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls. The primary strategy is to deploy a web of permanents that punish opponents for normal game actions-drawing cards, casting spells, having creatures enter, or simply starting their turns-creating a constant drip of life loss. Each opponent's first life loss each turn triggers Valgavoth to draw a card and grow, making the commander the deck's primary repeatable card-advantage engine. The win condition is attrition: incremental burn from pieces like Underworld Dreams, Spiteful Visions, Painful Quandary, and Roiling Vortex chips away at life totals while the commander's card flow keeps the pressure coming. A few board wipes (Blasphemous Act, Chain Reaction) and direct removal spells (Terminate, Chaos Warp) serve to clear blockers and problematic permanents. Late-game haymakers like Peer into the Abyss or Exsanguinate can close out games. There is a token sacrifice subtheme with Phyrexian Altar and Blood Artist, but no infinite combos are reliably assembled.
