Deck overview

Athreos, God of Passage commands an Orzhov aristocrats deck focused on incremental life drain, recursive sacrifice loops, and board control. The primary strategy leverages cheap creatures and death-trigger staples like Zulaport Cutthroat, Cruel Celebrant, and Bastion of Remembrance alongside sacrifice outlets such as Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim and Yahenni, Undying Partisan. Athreos forces opponents into a difficult tax dilemma whenever a creature dies, either returning threats to your hand or accelerating their life loss. The deck secures victory by grinding down life totals with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Sanguine Bond, or by executing overwhelming late-game reanimation via Rise of the Dark Realms and Lich-Knights Conquest.
