Smaug by Syrok

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable leads a Rakdos treasure-engine deck that aims to make Smaug take noncombat damage, converting each point into Treasure tokens, then multiply that mana with Goldspan Dragon or Xorn and burn the table through Pyrohemia/Pestilence. Secondary paths use Dragon beatdown, artifact pingers (Reckless Fireweaver, Ingenious Artillerist, Mirkwood Bats, Marionette Apprentice), and alternate win conditions in Hellkite Tyrant, Revel in Riches, and Knuckles the Echidna. The commander is a haste-y indestructible beater and the engine piece; Smaug the Magnificent functions as a second 'mini-Smaug' hidden commander, while Magda and treasure tutors find the missing loop pieces. The deck is proactive, medium-speed, and vulnerable to disruption of its small combo package.
