Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Mardu token-aristocrats deck built around Extus, Oriq Overlord and his back face, Awaken the Blood Avatar. The primary plan is to flood the board with cheap tokens, then repeatedly cast Awaken the Blood Avatar from the command zone, sacrificing the token board to reduce its cost, force each opponent to sacrifice a creature, and create a 3/6 hasty Avatar that deals 3 damage to each opponent every time it attacks. Each cast also fires a massive wave of death triggers from Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, Bastion of Remembrance, Mayhem Devil, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, converting the token board into a lethal drain. The front face, Extus, Oriol Overlord, provides a recursion engine: every instant or sorcery cast returns a nonlegendary creature from the graveyard to hand, enabling a grindier aristocrats line when the token plan is disrupted. Secondary wins include Blot Out the Sky for a massive token burst and Inkshield for a defensive token explosion.
