Bracket 3 - Hakballin' by Sp0okyChills

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Simic Merfolk deck is a go-wide +1/+1 counter strategy helmed by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. Hakbal turns every Merfolk on board into an explorer at the start of combat, ramping lands into hand, drawing cards, and distributing counters across the tribe. The plan is to flood the board with cheap Merfolk, multiply explore triggers with Topography Tracker and Roaming Throne, then make the team unblockable through Herald of Secret Streams, islandwalk lords, and flying from Namor, Scourge of the Seas or Mist Dancer. There is no true infinite combo; the deck wins through overwhelming combat, clearing blockers with Cyclonic Rift, Raise the Palisade, or Summon: Leviathan, and protecting its swarm with Heroic Intervention and Ripples of Potential. It is a value-tribal deck that rewards careful explore sequencing and aggressive spreading of attacks to maximize draw triggers.
