Deck overview

This Abzan deck combines aggressive hatebears with a resilient land recursion engine. Led by Thalia and The Gitrog Monster, the strategy slows down opponents by forcing their nonbasic lands and creatures to enter the battlefield tapped, while imposing Rule of Law and artifact tax effects via pieces like Archon of Emeria and Collector Ouphe. Meanwhile, the deck breaks parity by ramping extra lands each turn and recycling fetchlands from the graveyard with Ramunap Excavator, Crucible of Worlds, and The Necrobloom. Sacrificing lands or tokens to the commander generates steady card draw and triggers powerful landfall engines. As the game transitions into the midgame, token generators such as Field of the Dead, Titania, Protector of Argoth, and Rampaging Baloths build an overwhelming army. The deck closes out the game through massive combat swings, bolstered by Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite or a game-ending Finale of Devastation.
