Kona (Bracket 4)

Format: Commander

Commander: Kona, Rescue Beastie

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Kona, Rescue Beastie pilots a mono-green stompy deck that leverages the commander's Survival trigger to cheat enormous permanents from hand directly onto the battlefield. The core plan is to ramp early with mana dorks and land-auras, deploy Kona on turn 3 or 4, then tap it via combat or an activated ability (Relic of Legends, Springleaf Drum, Enduring Vitality) to drop a game-ending threat in the second main phase. The deck overwhelms opponents with a parade of high-CMV bombs-Craterhoof Behemoth, Emrakul, the Promised End, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, Worldspine Wurm-supported by powerful draw engines (Sylvan Library, The Great Henge) and a handful of overrun effects. While the primary win is combat damage from an unstoppable board, the deck also includes an extra-turn line via Emrakul's cast trigger and a recursion package (Shifting Woodland, Exploration Broodship) to recover from wipes.
