Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Red Voltron and Equipment aggro strategy helmed by Gimli of the Glittering Caves. Gimli combines innate double strike with +1/+1 counter growth from legendary creatures and built-in Treasure generation on combat damage. The primary game plan curves into Gimli on Turn 3, equips him with evasion or stat-boosting equipment on Turn 4, and leverages damage doublers like Two-Handed Axe and Bulk Up to deliver lethal commander damage starting on Turn 5. The deck generates substantial mana velocity through Treasures, supporting secondary beaters such as Alexios, Deimos of Kosmos and Bonehoard Dracosaur. Card flow is maintained through combat-triggered impulse draw and artifact-based card advantage. While vulnerable to well-timed spot removal and creature sweepers, redundant equipment and goad mechanics allow the deck to pressure life totals and close out games over sequential combat steps.
