Deck overview

This Orzhov deck is designed to establish an asymmetric total lock on opposing resources before winning through uncontested combat damage. The primary strategy combines Drana and Linvala (or Linvala, Keeper of Silence) with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Kormus Bell. Because Kormus Bell turns all Swamps into 1/1 creatures and Urborg makes every land a Swamp, opponents' lands become creatures whose activated abilities cannot be activated, stripping them of all land-based mana generation. Supporting stax pieces such as Null Rod, Stony Silence, Torpor Orb, and Grafdigger's Cage simultaneously shut down artifact mana, enters-the-battlefield triggers, and graveyard recursion. Once opponents are paralyzed, the deck closes the game using evasive attacks from Drana, Avacyn, Angel of Hope, and a rapidly compounding Soldier token army from Myrel, Shield of Argive.
