Deck overview

This deck is an asymmetric mono-black control strategy helmed by Horobi, Death's Wail. The core game plan exploits Horobi's symmetrical trigger, which destroys any creature whenever it becomes the target of a spell or ability. By running an array of otherwise obscure, low-cost targeting artifacts like Tooth of Chiss-Goria, Scale of Chiss-Goria, Squee's Toy, and Distorting Lens, the deck turns zero-mana and tap abilities into repeatable instant-speed creature removal. Once the creature lock is established on Turn 4, the deck deploys mass death payoffs such as Revel in Riches, Grave Betrayal, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. A single sweep from Touch of Darkness or Cauldron of Souls wipes all opposing creatures simultaneously, converting them into a massive board of tokens, stolen threats, or lethal life drain. Opponents relying on creature strategies are completely shut down, while mono-black big-mana engines ensure sustained late-game dominance.
