Deck overview

This deck is a Simic creature midrange strategy commanded by Volo, Guide to Monsters, designed to abuse diverse creature typings to generate double value on every creature cast. By packing a curated bestiary of non-overlapping types—such as Avatar, Chimera Hydra, Insect, Dryad, and Horror—the deck ensures Volo's copying ability consistently triggers. The primary strategy accelerates into Volo on Turn 3 or 4, followed by game-ending threats like Tendershoot Dryad, Hornet Queen, or Apex Devastator. Doubled enter-the-battlefield triggers and explosive token creation rapidly overwhelm opponents with evasive and high-power boards. Supporting token multipliers like Doubling Season, Second Harvest, and Doppelgang scale the board exponentially, while card advantage engines like Beast Whisperer and Radagast the Brown keep the hand refueled. The deck defends its board with efficient interaction like Heroic Intervention and Negate, closing games through overwhelming combat damage across turns 6 and 7.
