HYDRA by Er3d

Format: Commander

Commander: Gargos, Vicious Watcher

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Gargos, Vicious Watcher is a mono-green X-hydra stompy deck. The commander acts as a cost reducer and fight engine rather than the win condition: his {4} discount turns small green mana sums into enormous hydras, and his triggered fight clears blockers. The primary plan is to ramp to six mana, cast Gargos, then stack counter doublers such as Branching Evolution and Unbound Flourishing before deploying a hasty, trampling hydra that can kill one opponent per turn. Secondary paths use Hydra Omnivore plus Exponential Growth to deal game-ending damage to all opponents in one combat, or Hydra Broodmaster to generate a wide board. There is no double-faced or hidden commander; the true engine is the X-hydra package.
