Deck overview

This deck is a Selesnya Lifegain and +1/+1 Counters midrange strategy commanded by Treebeard, Gracious Host. The primary game plan focuses on generating Food tokens and converting incidental lifegain into rapid power growth across Treefolk and Halfling creatures. Supported by a dense 1-2 CMC ramp suite, the deck reliably deploys Treebeard on Turn 4, creating two Food tokens on entry. On Turn 6, cracking Food tokens and triggering lifegain buffs Treebeard into a lethal trampler with ward {2}, threatening commander damage eliminations while secondary beaters like Dauntless Dourbark and Banquet Guests pressure the table. In addition to fair combat beatdown, the deck contains a compact infinite combo between Rosie Cotton of South Lane and Scurry Oak, which produces infinite 1/1 Squirrel tokens. While resilient to targeted removal thanks to ward and protective spells like Inspiring Call, the deck remains vulnerable to board wipes and lacks proactive stax pieces, relying on sustained creature combat to close out games around Turn 8.
