Format: Commander

Commander: Rowan, Scion of War

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War turns life loss into a discount engine for huge black and red spells. You pay life with Wall of Blood, Blood Celebrant, Treasonous Ogre, Necropotence and Vilis to activate Rowan for 10-20 mana off, then fire discounted Exsanguinate, Torment of Hailfire, Crackle with Power or Comet Storm to close. A second path builds Treasure storm with Storm-Kiln Artist, Birgi and Reiterate looping Mana Geyser, Brass's Bounty or Seething Song into Grapeshot or Tendrils. Rowan is the cost reducer, not card advantage; Vilis, Broker of Blood and Bolas's Citadel act as hidden commanders that draw through the deck while you pay life.
