Group Slug Val by TheMartyrMaker

Format: Commander

Commander: Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Valgavoth is the draw engine and finisher in this Rakdos pain/drain deck. The primary plan is to deploy Valgavoth early, make each opponent lose life on their turns with group-slug permanents, and convert the extra cards and counters into Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond, which form an infinite drain loop. Secondary paths are commander-damage kills through Shadowspear/Rogue's Passage and attrition via draw-punishers such as Underworld Dreams plus Sheoldred. No hidden commander exists; the 99 is built entirely around Valgavoth's trigger and the Exquisite/Sanguine payoff. The commander's role is to fuel the deck: on each opponent's first life-loss event of their turn, Valgavoth draws a card and grows, so he must be protected with boots and lifelink.
