Format: Commander

Commander: Shalai and Hallar

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Shalai and Hallar is a straightforward +1/+1 counter combo-burn deck: build a critical mass of counters, then let the commander convert every counter event into direct damage. The primary plan is to drop the commander early and amplify triggers with redundant counter doublers; backup wins come from huge trampling hydras, unblockable Champion of Lambholt attacks, and Mayael's Aria. Cathars' Crusade can turn a single creature cast into a board-wide burst that multiplies the damage output. Protection spells and a few wraths keep the board alive. The deck is powerful once its engine is established but lacks counterspells and is vulnerable to repeated commander removal and mass sweepers.
