Explorers of the Deep (Hakbal) by user5365638

Format: Commander

Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Simic Merfolk tribal deck built around Hakbal of the Surging Soul, who acts as a repeatable card-advantage and land-drop engine by granting all Merfolk explore at combat and an attack-triggered land-play or draw. The primary game plan is to flood the board with evasive Merfolk, load them with +1/+1 counters via explore triggers and support permanents like Hardened Scales and Branching Evolution, then break through with unblockability from Herald of Secret Streams or Master of the Pearl Trident. The deck wins through commander damage accumulation, wide combat damage, or the alternate condition Simic Ascendancy. It forgoes infinite combos in favor of incremental value and resilient board presence, using a handful of bounce/exile spells for interaction.
