Deck overview

Tovolar, Dire Overlord commands an aggressive Gruul Werewolf tribal deck designed to establish early board presence and convert combat damage into continuous card advantage. The deck curves low-cost Wolves and Werewolves on Turns 1 and 2, setting up Tovolar's entry on Turn 3 to immediately draw cards upon connecting in combat. On Turn 4, Tovolar automatically transforms the board into Nightbound Werewolves, significantly boosting power and toughness while threatening devastating multi-creature attacks. The deck uses heavy combat anthems, trample enablers, and overrun spells such as Craterhoof Behemoth, Overwhelming Stampede, and Unnatural Growth to eliminate opponents across Turns 5 and 6. Protection spells like Heroic Intervention and Full Moon's Rise shield the wide creature board from standard destruction sweepers. While the deck lacks fast combo finishes and hard stax locks, its high creature redundancy, explosive combat scaling, and self-refueling draw engine make it a consistent combat threat.
