Deck overview

This Simic Kindred deck is commanded by Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca, utilizing a low-to-the-ground Merfolk creature curve to establish an engine of card advantage, board presence, and unblockable combat pressure. The deck operates by flooding the battlefield with cheap Merfolk, turning them into repeatable resource engines through Kumena's tap abilities without needing to pass through summoning sickness restrictions. Card draw engines like Hakbal of the Surging Soul, Svyelun of Sea and Sky, and Rhystic Study keep the hand full while token producers like Deeproot Pilgrimage and Deeproot Waters compound board width. Evasion is guaranteed through nonbasic land conversion via Harbinger of the Seas and Quicksilver Fountain, turning on universal islandwalk from Lord of Atlantis and Master of the Pearl Trident. The deck protects its assembled army with elite free interaction including Force of Will and Fierce Guardianship, closing games decisively via Triumph of the Hordes, Coat of Arms, or overwhelming alpha strikes.
