Deck overview

This mono-black combo deck uses K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth to convert life into mana, accelerating into explosive draw engines and reanimation combos. The primary strategy aims to land K'rrik on Turn 3 or 4, cast Buried Alive to put Necrotic Ooze, Asmodeus the Archfiend, and Skirge Familiar into the graveyard, and reanimate Necrotic Ooze. Necrotic Ooze gains Asmodeus's draw ability without its drawback and Skirge Familiar's mana production, drawing the entire library. The deck finishes on the spot with Aetherflux Reservoir or by looping Gray Merchant of Asphodel with Chainer, Dementia Master. Backup engines such as Peer into the Abyss, Bolas's Citadel, and Necropotence provide strong redundancy. While the deck boasts high speed and same-turn lethality, its heavy reliance on life totals and graveyard recursion leaves it vulnerable to well-timed removal, graveyard hate, and aggressive damage.
