Rowan, Scion of War by LJ.FourFoldMaster

Format: Commander

Commander: Rowan, Scion of War

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Rowan, Scion of War is the deck's central cost-reduction engine: lose life in the main phase, tap Rowan, and every black or red spell costs that much less. The primary path is one enormous X spell-Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, Comet Storm, Banefire, or Crackle with Power-fueled by repeatable life-payment permanents such as Treasonous Ogre, Blood Celebrant, Wall of Blood, and Immolating Souleater. Draw engines like Necropotence, Phyrexian Arena, and Dark Confidant find pieces and add incidental life loss. Secondary plans are limited: Bolas's Citadel and Gray Merchant supply alternate damage, but the deck is built for a single Rowan turn, not a prolonged battlefield presence. No hidden commander exists; Rowan is the sole engine.
