Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos midrange and combo-adjacent strategy centered on Smaug the Impenetrable. Smaug possesses flying, haste, and indestructible, and creates a Treasure token for every point of noncombat damage dealt to him. The game plan focuses on ramping into Smaug ahead of curve using mana rocks, rituals, and Dragon cost reducers like Dragonspeaker Shaman. Once Smaug is deployed, the deck exploits his damage trigger with high-output self-damage spells such as Blasphemous Act, Cut Propulsion, and Self-Destruct, creating bursts of 8 to 16 Treasures in a single turn. These Treasure surges immediately convert into lethal table-wide damage through artifact-drain permanents like Reckless Fireweaver, Ingenious Artillerist, and Mayhem Devil. The deck features excellent plan shielding against targeted spot removal via redirect spells like Deflecting Swat, while alternate win conditions like Hellkite Tyrant and Revel in Riches provide solid backup lines.
