Deck overview

Volo, Guide to Monsters is a Simic value-token deck that turns creature spells into doubled permanents. The primary plan is to land Volo on turn three or four, then cast high-impact creatures with unique creature types-such as Tendershoot Dryad, Hornet Queen, and Risen Reef-so Volo copies them into token armies. Secondary paths use Parallel Lives, Second Harvest, Strionic Resonator, and Twinning Staff to multiply tokens further, while Risen Reef, Consecrated Sphinx, and Enduring Curiosity keep the hand full. The commander is the engine but not a combo piece; the deck can still win through raw token generation and pump effects like Return of the Wildspeaker.
