Deck overview

Ares, God of War leads an aggressive Rakdos combat deck focused on applying relentless attack pressure with built-in creature recursion. Ares ensures that whenever an attacking creature you control dies, it returns directly to your hand. This mechanic turns sacrificial beaters, combat trades, and decayed creatures into renewable assets rather than card disadvantage. The deck establishes an early board presence with low-cost creatures and mana artifacts, casting Ares on curve to initiate offensive momentum. In the midgame, damage amplifiers like Berserkers' Onslaught and Fiery Emancipation, unblockable effects from Bedlam, and forced combat from Disrupt Decorum and Kardur, Doomscourge overwhelm enemy defenses. While the list avoids infinite combos and fast mana, it generates substantial tempo through combat damage triggers from Grim Hireling and Professional Face-Breaker. The game concludes around Turn 7 via overwhelming multi-combat attacks or an explosive Insurrection.
