Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Tergrid, God of Fright to transform symmetric discard and sacrifice effects into game-ending resource theft. Rather than relying on fragile multi-card combinations, the deck establishes an oppressive stax foundation using cards like Oppression, Braids, Cabal Minion, and Desolation to choke opposing mana and card advantage. Once Tergrid resolves, mass discard spells like Dark Deal and Awaken the Erstwhile, or group edicts like Pox and Plaguecrafter, strip opponents of their hands and boards while placing all stolen permanents directly onto your battlefield. The resulting board dominance rapidly overwhelms the table through combat damage with stolen creatures or a massive Torment of Hailfire fueled by Cabal Coffers and stolen lands.
