The Persistence of Loss

Format: Commander

Commander: Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER // Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Mono-black aristocrats built around Sephiroth's front face: every recurring creature becomes a draw trigger and a death-ping, and the fourth death in a turn transforms him into One-Winged Angel whose emblem keeps the drain and whose attack trigger turns excess bodies into cards. The primary kill is a Warren Soultrader + Gravecrawler loop with a drain payoff on top, although Pitiless Plunderer, Viscera Seer, and Reassembling Skeleton provide a second engine. The deck can also grind with sacrifice-value draw, force-edicts, and Bolas's Citadel when the loop is not assembled. Vincent Valentine is a supporting beater, not a hidden commander; Sephiroth's front face is the card the list is built to activate and transform.
