Commander: The Howling Abomination

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Gruul spellslinger-Voltron deck built around The Howling Abomination. The commander is meant to land early with haste, then every cheap instant or sorcery that targets it makes it bigger and pings each opponent. Most games start with ramp into the commander, followed by a chain of one-mana cantrips and pump spells that draws into more fuel and ends with Chandra's Ignition or a Kediss-assisted combat step. Zada, Hedron Grinder acts as a hidden commander, turning the same cantrips into mass card draw and pumps. Leyline of Resonance, Frontline Heroism, and Mirrorwing Dragon double the targeting triggers, while Past in Flames and Dreadhorde Arcanist provide recursion and Venerated Rotpriest offers an alternate poison finish.
