Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov Aristocrats Midrange strategy helmed by Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar. The game plan revolves around generating small creature fodder, sacrificing them for resource advantage and board control, and draining opponents systematically. Syr Vondam serves as both a scaling threat and an insurance policy, growing and gaining life whenever creatures die or enter exile, while punishing removal with nonland permanent destruction. The deck excels at grinding down opposing creature boards through recursive edict effects like Fleshbag Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and Accursed Marauder looped via Chthonian Nightmare and Priest of Forgotten Gods. Mass reanimation spells like Storm of Souls and Ascend from Avernus act as top-end closers by returning the entire graveyard to trigger a flurry of drain effects from Bastion of Remembrance, Cruel Celebrant, and Gray Merchant of Asphodel. While vulnerable to instant-speed combo decks and rest-in-peace style graveyard exile, its redundant engine ensures steady late-game inevitability.
