Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable is a 7-mana 8/7 flying indestructible haste Dragon that converts noncombat damage into Treasure tokens. The deck's primary plan is to cast Smaug and then deal damage to it with outlets like Blazing Sunsteel, Requiem Monolith, Pestilence/Pyrohemia, Cut Propulsion and Self-Destruct to generate explosive Treasures, then win with Revel in Riches, Hellkite Tyrant, or large X spells such as Torment of Hailfire and Crackle with Power. Secondary paths use Dragon cost reducers and treasure dragons (Ancient Copper Dragon, Goldspan Dragon, Cavern-Hoard Dragon) plus Mirkwood Bats drains. Requiem Monolith and Mayhem Devil act as hidden commanders enabling Bowmasters and sacrifice loops even without Smaug.
