Deck overview

This Golgari deck uses Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons to turn -1/-1 counter placement into an expanding army of 1/1 green deathtouch Snake tokens. The early game relies on 1- and 2-mana mana dorks to cast Hapatra on Turn 2, followed by repeatable counter engines such as Blowfly Infestation, Generous Patron, or Yawgmoth, Thran Physician by Turn 4. This setup suppresses opposing boards by shrinking and destroying utility creatures while generating wide token boards. Draw engines like Skullclamp and Sylvan Library keep resources flowing into hand. The deck closes games around Turn 6 using mass combat overruns like Craterhoof Behemoth, Overwhelming Stampede, and Triumph of the Hordes, or through infinite loops with Devoted Druid and Quillspike or Blowfly Infestation and Obelisk Spider. Its main vulnerabilities are sweepers and fast noncreature combo decks.
