Rakdos - Smaug by user1244663

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Treasure-Voltron/Combo strategy helmed by Smaug the Impenetrable, a massive flying, indestructible, haste dragon. The primary game plan revolves around generating a critical mass of Treasure tokens through a dense suite of treasure-producing cards, then using that mana to fuel either an infinite damage loop via the commander's noncombat-damage trigger or a storm-based kill (e.g., Grapeshot, Ignite Memories). The commander's indestructibility and haste make it a resilient beater, but the real engine is the synergy between Pyrohemia/Pestilence and Pariah's Shield - redirecting the pinger's damage to Smaug creates infinite treasures and infinite damage to opponents. Secondary win conditions include Revel in Riches, Hellkite Tyrant, and Crackle with Power as a mana sink. The deck is explosive but lacks traditional tutors, relying on the high redundancy of its treasure generators to consistently find the combo pieces.
